Wood Bowl
Finished bowl in Mammoth Kauri. It is a wood that was recovered from peat bogs in New Zealand. The wood is carbon dated to be between 30,000 and 50,000 years old.
I finished the top and bottom. I use a supernova chuck and bowl plate. This allows me to make a nice bottom when the bowl is turned over.
I did have to repair this one. It is the same bowl that was pictured in my last post. I was lucky in that it broke clean enough to be glued back together and finished with sanding. This is pretty rare wood. It would have been a disappointing moment not to be able to save it.
