I made a cross cut sled this morning using birch ply. I followed the instructions from The Wood Whisperer and it turned out great. It is very accurate and replaces a miter saw I had been using. I used Kreg fixture bars for my runners instead of wood. This should prevent problems with humidity changes. I also plan to add slots so that it will make cutting angles a little easier.
